Merry Christmas?

John Driscoll | Thursday, December 25, 2008

What place do our beliefs have in our marketing message?  Should we, like some, hide behind politically correct messages like 'Happy Holidays'? Should we be afraid to say 'Merry Christmas'?  read more

Every Drop Counts

John Driscoll | Wednesday, December 17, 2008

This time of year tends to be very trying for those that find themselves in financial sales. Typically clients are beginning to get ready for the holidays and are not that interested in making any changes to their portfolio. At least that's the way the rational goes. Truth is, things do slow down. Producers begin to sound like their clients announcing that they will "start that next year." A week of "time off" turns into 2, then 2 turns into the whole month of December. Ba-humbug! So how do we enjoy the Christmas season without watching our pipeline dry up like the Arizona desert?    read more

Time to throw out the box

John Driscoll | Wednesday, December 10, 2008

I didn't know it was cheaper to pay Jay Leno then to produce a 1 hour drama. But, apparently, someone at NBC did. Then again, so did CBS. Yet it didn't dawn on them to replace one of their failing dramas with a successful late night program. In case you haven't heard, that's exactly what the big-wigs at NBC have decided to do. Starting next year Jay Leno will be starting a "new" 1 hour talk show, while Conan O'Brien takes the reigns of "The Tonight Show."  read more

It's All In The Packaging

John Driscoll | Tuesday, December 09, 2008

My wife recently bought this Christmas Coke bottle for the price of a 2 liter bottle. I am sure your reaction upon seeing it was similar to my own: It's cute.

Sometimes I hear financial advisors and other service related industries talk about value creation. It's the act of increasing the value one puts on products through unique processes or knowledge. Unfortunately too many entrepreneurs think this means convincing customers your smarter than the next guy or girl, when all consumers are looking for us is a clear understanding of what you do. This is a process I like to call 'packaging.'

Marketing, in a nut shell, is the communication of your product. Packaging can be the difference between value creation or customer elimination. As a entrepreneur you must work to communicate your process to your clients using brochure documentation, unique process forms and technology to make your process clear. Leave no detail to chance. Packaging matters.

The Secret to Solid Website Copywriting

Jason Martinez | Friday, November 21, 2008

Copy Copy Copy. Copywriting seems to be a dreaded task for many of us. What should I say? How much should I say? Where should it go on the site? All of these are frequently asked questions here at Organic Sales.

The one place where writing copy is essential is your website. This is where your clients and potential clients really get to know you and what you have to offer. While this is your chance to make a great first impression, many people tend to oversell. I am sure we have all experienced that car sales-man who pitches his sale you the minute you step foot on the lot. In fact, they have even been trained on their greeting to better enhance the chance of a sale. This over-eagerness is a big turn off and is very frustrating for consumers. As a consumer I urge you to take some time to implement what you have already learned about customer experience.

Did Congress finally got it right?  Do you think that they really came up with a plan to attack this ongoing housing crisis?  Their latest effort being this "Hope For Ownership" program.

Ebay Mortgage.

Jason Martinez | Sunday, August 03, 2008

Today, during my drive around town, I began thinking of where the mortgage industry is headed.  For me, topic is a regular on my list of 'Things I Think About While Driving,' and the thought process normally goes something like this,  "What if people could just...(fill in the blank)."  This time I was thinking about the Internet and how it has just changed everything.  Then the 'What If' moment came.   read more

Can I Get a Happy Meal, Dad?

Organic Sales | Tuesday, July 29, 2008

I am proud to be a father of three little ones. And as a good father should, I have purchased my fair share of a happy meal or two (can you taste the sarcasm?).  Funny thing is I still find myself surprised by my kids' affinity to McDonalds Happy Meals. Why McDonalds? I am more of a Chick-fil-A man myself, but the kids still prefer MickyDs! I used to think it was the toys, but all fast food chains give out toys now. What is it about McDonalds that makes the kids come back time and time again? After much deliberation, I think I might have figured it out. The other day my oldest, Jacob, was telling me that McDonalds actually advertises on the bottom of each Happy Meal.  Publishing what toy is coming next. Hmmmm? Anticipation, free prize, relevant material...good marketing! Let's just hope they don't keep eating there when they are old enough to stop ordering Happy Meals.
